Plain terms
What Microsoft Fabric is
Microsoft Fabric is a set of data tools in one Microsoft cloud workspace. Teams use it to land files, transform them, store them for reporting, and open them in Power BI. It is not a magic fix for conflicting numbers. The definitions and the source records still have to be agreed.
If your question is only which dashboard tool to buy, start with Power BI consulting. If the question is one trusted store for many systems, read data warehouse consulting. If the question is how data moves every night, read data engineering.
Fit
When Fabric fits a Power BI shop
Fabric tends to fit an Oklahoma team that already lives in Microsoft 365 and Power BI, and that is tired of copying files into a model by hand. It is a weaker fit when the warehouse you trust already runs on another platform and the only pain is one slow report. We say which case you are in before anyone buys capacity.
What a Fabric engagement can include
Fit check
Whether Fabric helps, or whether Power BI on the warehouse you have is enough.
Power BI path
How existing reports, models, and workspaces move or stay.
Warehouse path
When a lakehouse or warehouse in Fabric replaces a pile of files.
Pipelines
Loads from SQL Server and business systems, with checks when a file is late.
Capacity questions
What to ask about capacity and cost before you buy, using Microsoft's own terms.
Neighboring work
Links to Power BI, warehouse, and data engineering when Fabric is only one piece.
Moves
Moving from SQL Server or Synapse
A move starts with an inventory of SQL Server databases, Synapse objects, and the Power BI models that read them. We do not shut the old path off on day one. Reports keep running while a copy is loaded and checked against a closed period. SQL Server consulting stays the right page when the database itself needs an upgrade and Fabric is not the project.
Cost questions
Capacity and cost questions to ask first
Ask who will pay for capacity, which workloads share it, and what happens when a refresh and a user query compete. Microsoft publishes the license terms. We do not publish an Oklahoma Data Partners Fabric price on this page. A quote comes after we see your models and sources. For a market hourly band used elsewhere on this site, the Power BI page cites the Clutch analytics range and says it is not our rate.
Guides that help before a Fabric decision include do you need a data warehouse for Power BI, Power BI and Tableau, and raw data to a dashboard.
